Description

The Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera is the latest camera accessory from Raspberry Pi. It offers higher resolution (12 megapixels compared to 8 megapixels) and sensitivity (approximately 50% larger area per pixel for improved performance in low-light conditions) than the existing Camera Module v2. It is designed for use with interchangeable lenses in C- and CS-mount form factors. Other lens form factors can be accommodated by third-party lens adapters.

The high-quality camera provides an alternative to the Camera Module v2 for industrial and consumer applications, including surveillance cameras that require a high level of visual fidelity and/or integration with specialized optics. It is compatible with all models of Raspberry Pi computers from Raspberry Pi 1 Model B with the latest software version from www.raspberrypi.org.

The package includes a circuit board with a Sony IMX477 sensor, an FPC cable for connecting to a Raspberry Pi computer, a milled aluminum lens mount with an integrated tripod mount and focus adjustment ring, as well as C- to CS-mount adapters.

The 6mm 3-megapixel wide-angle lenses are suitable for the Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera for photography and video recording. The field of view (DxHxV°) is 63°, and the lenses have a resolution of 3 megapixels with a minimum object distance (M.O.D.) of 0.2 meters.

Safety Notice!

Pay attention to the following to avoid malfunctions or damage to this product:

  • Before connecting the camera, shut down your Raspberry Pi and disconnect it from the power source!
  • If the cable becomes loose, pull the locking mechanism plug forward and insert the flat cable, showing metal contacts, toward the circuit board into the plug, and close the locking mechanism.
  • The Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera should be operated in a dry environment at 0–50 °C.
  • Do not expose it to water or moisture during operation, and do not place it on a conductive surface.
  • Do not expose it to excessive heat.
  • Take care when screwing in parts or attaching a tripod. Cross-threading can be irreparable and void the warranty.
  • Handle the circuit board or connectors carefully to avoid mechanical or electrical damage.
  • Avoid handling the circuit board while it is powered on and only hold it at the edges to minimize the risk of damage from electrostatic discharge.
  • Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Avoid rapid temperature changes that can lead to moisture buildup inside the device, affecting image quality.
